  1. I have a Canon G9 digital camera. I took several pictures and 4 videos that are stored in the SD card of the camera. I connect the G9 to the PC via USB to transfer the pics/videos from the camera to the PC's hard drive and all files are transferred except a video file named MVI_2338.avi, filesize 1.22Gb. When I try to copy/paste this file it cannot be transferred (the file transfer window in Windows Explorer opens up but remains there doing nothing and in the process a file with the same name and with 0kb is created in the PC).
I checked the video file and it's fine, I can open it with the camera and play it in the G9. How can I fix this? Thanks.

Have you tried a card reader instead of connecting the camera directly to the PC?

Yes, I tried both ways. When trying with the card reader, the card can not be recognized by the PC.

It might be the XP/SDHC card issue. XP sometimes has issues with SDHC cards bigger than 4GB.....doubtful since you can get some material off of the card but not all. ....strange. I've got a little Canon that takes video(with a 4GB SDHC card) and the only thing I needed to do was upgrade my card reader.

  5. Even stranger is the fact that I'm using the card reader that came with the SDHC Sandisk card and never had issues with it. I'll try doing this in a Win7 PC.

  6. I just tried transferring the video file in my same PC but running Win7 Ultimate, and I did so successfully (directly from the camera, the card reader still did not recognize the card). So I can confirm the problem was WinXP. Thanks.

There is a hotfix for SDHC problems in XP.

Can you provide a link to the hotfix? The ones I found are all pre SP3 Thanks again.
