    Hi all,

I have a movie in a KVCD .bin image that has REALLY wide borders.

I would like to remove them at the same time (or before or after, maybe?) I convert the movie to an Xvid/AVI file.

I know there's a list of tools on the site, but I'd like to get some opinions on what would be the best software and procedure for doing this.

    Thanks!

The use of common terminology may be very important to this discussion. Are you perhaps trying to alter the aspect ratio of the movie in some way, so that a "widescreen" 2.35:1 movie is re-formatted to be a different "shape," such as 1.85:1, or perhaps even a full screen 1.35:1 shape? Is this what you meant when you are asking about "removing borders"?

If you are not trying to alter the aspect ratio, then please help us by clarifying exactly what you mean by "borders."

If you are trying to alter the aspect ratio (the shape of the viewable video), then you may want to consider changing the subject heading of this request, or perhaps editing the actual request (if it is not too late to do so).

    Let us know, either way.

The video has a rather large black border around it, about 1" in fullscreen view @ 1280x800 resolution. I want to do the following:

1: convert the KVCD film to an Xvid/AVI file.
2: Crop the too-large black border that my have been created when the movie was originally created using TC.

I still say frameserve to your encoder via AVISynth and use crop to remove the borders.

DGIndex supports MPEG1 or you can use directshowsource.
