Having worlds of problems with recording failures due to disk errors. I've used Maxell media but mostly record with verbatim, higher success rate. A curios note the media that seems to be working well all seem to fail after recording over the disk a few times. Ive reformated before re-recording. This does not work. Any suggestions or firmware? thanks -garman

One more thing is it good to have a disc with 2 types of recordings... say LP mode and the next show in SLP mode. It seems odd when I try to rip them.

I have been having lots of problems with the Daytek DP-30/Liteon 5001 when ripping the discs. Copying using DVD Decryptor is fine but converting the ripped files to SVCD is problematic (I dread trying to convert to DivX avi). Stream errors abound but they can be fixed if you rip to one large file and run that through Videoredo. It will correct the errors and give you back an mpeg file that can be edited and converted. I never had these problems with my Panasonic E80H so it's all a bit bewildering to me.

As to recording media, I have been using Japanese made Fuji (Taiyo Yuden) +R discs very successfully but Memorex 4X (Philips 041) +RW discs are hit or miss, with about a 50% write fail rate. I'll try some Fuji discs later this week. Oh yes, I replaced the Liteon drive in the recorder with an LG4040B multidrive and it seems to work better than the original drive other than you can't fully erase the disc. I use Sonic Recordnow Deluxe v. 7 (a very old version but it seems to work better than the latest version) to erase/format discs. Maxell and Fuji "Made in Taiwan" discs seem to work okay but I usually only put a single program on them and don't fill the disc. There are lots of problems with those discs but they are good enough for me with material under 4 Gig...

Thanks for the replay. I almost gave up on a response.
Anyway I did not know you can easily change the drive. May do that. Anyway do you record in mulitiple formats. ie.. sp/lp and ep on the same disc. -garman
