I have a Plextor 740a that I installed in my Dell pc.Sometimes it will be recognized and other times it wont.I originally set the jumper to master with the Plextor being the only drive.I then looked at my factory cd burner and it was set to cs jumper setting,so I switched over to cs.I still have problems with the drive being recognized. The device manager says ok.What can I do to get this burner installed correct???

  2. CS is cable select, it is a better option in newer motherboards. Make sure your cable is good and in place, use 80 wire ide ribbon that is. if it is not recognized most likely it is at the end of its life. Check device manager to see if there are any conflicts. Best place for dvd is primary of ide2. Give us more info these are the first guesses. The drive: is it new or old, does it work ok on old computer? double check cables and connection.

  4. When you say (recognized) What do you mean?

You put a DVD in the drive and Windows doesnt see it?

or are you talking about Blank DVD's?

Or you only see it somtimes in (My Computer)?

Iam talking about my software when trying to burn a dvd.
I will open software and there will be no drives detected.
This happens on Nero 6.6 and Decrypter.
The device manager shows the drive working properly.

install the drive in another computer and if it works fine then your computer may have something wrong or a software conflict.
