    Dear all,

    Sherlock Codec Detective tells me:

Warning, the following codecs were found broken:

    Audio codecs:

    1. Pinnacle MP3 encoder

    2. WMA Pro over S / PDIF DMO

    Video codecs:

    1. DivX decoder filter

But it doesn't tell me how to fix them - any ideas? I don't know how a codec becomes broken but this report is different to one a few days ago in which only the Pinnacle MP3 encoder was reported as broken. Anyway the problem is that suddenly in the last few days I am getting a popping / crackling sound in the audio of some of my MOV movies. So I don't know whether the new broken codecs are the cause of this problem.

You could try re-installing them. If you have the individual codecs just remove them and re-install them. Open device manager and go to sound video & game controllers and then to "video codecs" then click on the properties tab. You can remove them from there. Not sure about the windows media codec though. You may have to uninstall & reinstall the whole program for that one. I've never had to go through that myself so maybe somebody else that's been through it can be of more help to you.

You can also use Codec Sniper.

If they aren't needed, then just remove/delete them. Any codecs that are still needed, just reinstall.

Yes but my question is how to install them, from where do I get them? I have googled without success.
