Have you checked to make sure one of the controllers hasn't kicked into PIO mode in device manager?
-
Sorry, should of added, i defrag every 12 hours.......
please remind me how to check for pio mode..... -
gee, yes, the transfer mode is set to pio, cant see a way to change it.......
wonder how the hell this happened...... -
Pull the drive controllers from device manager and reboot. They SHOULD reID and leave PIO mode at that point.
XP will kick into PIO mode if it gets a specific number of errors. It happens with DVD burners all the time.
