  1. I've been burning dvds and cd's on a generic dvd burner for about 9 months. I'm really getting sick of making coasters! The only media that seems to work in my burner is Imation -R. I bought a pack of Verbatim Digital Movie dvd's, and according to the media guide they are really good however my dvd burner can't burn to them and I wasted 2 discs already.
I don't know what brand dvd burner it is anymore since I cannot find the box so I haven't been able to download any firmware updates for it.

So, anyway, I am stuck between a couple of burners:

    Pioneer or Lite-on

I'm looking for good price and dependability, Pioneer I found at Best Buy for $60 and Lite-on 1633S I found on ebay for $50. Would ebay be a good place to buy equipment? But that's not my original question... my question is which one sounds better. I don't know the model number of the Pioneer though.

I'm also interested in a dual dvd/cd burner.
Other suggestions in dvd burners would be appreciated too!

Newegg has the Liteon 1693 and Pioneer 110D both for less than $40 new, you can also get the NEC 3550 and Benq 1640 for around $40. I have a Benq and a Pioneer. Check out cdfreaks.com , they have forums for all the burners along with scans of different media. I think any of the 4 I mentioned are good burners, some people have better luck with one brand over another.
