  1. Hi all. In converting from anyformat to anyformat, virtualdub crashes when it tries to process any frame over 10,000 (actually, it dies on 9995 each time but I'm guessing 10,000 is causing the problem since the next step is just over 10,000)

And yes, this is running XP.

Any suggestions on how to fix this? By the way, I'm using Virtualdub since I'm cropping and filtering the file during conversion and so I can't just use TMPGENC.

Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

  2. I have the same problem with VirtualDub becoming idle after the 10,000 frame. I'm running XP too and I hope that's not the problem. I tried running VirtualDub in each compatibility mode, but it yielded the same results.

push the envelop, push it some more. . .

    * in tmpg, use [x] Source and go a few hundred frames BEFORE the 10,000th
and just beyond it, to see if you get the same bail out. Want to see if its
your AVI or something else related to VD or XP or some other factor
    * also, try (in VD) the same tech. above, but use the Mark in and Mark out
between the area/scene in question and then frame serve it to tmpg and
see if you get the same bomb out at that same area. If you don't, and it
continues on, (maybe till the next 10,000th frame?) then you that much
    closer to your answer/cause
