I edited the end of 1st video and start of 2nd video, then eliminated the chapter point at the end of 1st video. I eliminated chapter point at very start of 2nd video - I made the next frame the chapter point - and get a pause. How close can you put a chapter point near where the files meet without causing a pause?

I believe it is an issue with DVD Author from what I've seen. To test just make a DVD with no chapters and I believe you'll see the same thing.

yeah, I just tried joining two samples with no chapter points and there's a pause at the juncture. I've seen posts in this forum saying if you delete the chapter points where the two meet, it will eliminate the pause, but this doesn't seem to be the case. Anyone know the solution?
I'm taking two dvd-rws recorded from same recorder at same quality mode, using 'Shrink to get them on my harddrive, and then editing with TDA. -

Under the edit menu for the second clip, select the second I-frame and add that frame to the chapter points. Delete the first chapter point, the one just before the one you added. You should have no pause now ... like I said this has always worked for me.
Also, you said you chose the second frame ... if you chose the second frame then that's your problem ... you can only select I-frames in TDA for your chapter points ... make sure you select the second I-frame. -
Thanks for responding. Let me review:
When I played my finished sample, there were no chapter points according to my dvd player. That seems to indicate the chapter points were deleted, right?
In my original project, when I said I made the 2nd frame a chapter, I meant the next eligible spot for a chapter point (which was one photo still/thumbnail to the right of the first thumbnail).
Is there something else I'm doing wrong, or not doing properly? -
No ... that should do the job ... the half or so dozen of times that I've done this it worked ... no guarantee that it always work ...
Just to ask a stupid question on my part ... When you make the "next eligible" frame (which is an I-frame) as a chapter point and delete the first one ... you're deleting the first chapter point right? You're not deleting the first frame (i.e., I-frame and correspoing GOPs) from you video are you? -
I had the same problem with TDA and deleting the chapter points is probably not going to fix the problem. The solution for me was to open the two DVD (files) and combine them in a decent mpeg editor. I use TMPGEnc's Mpeg Editor. If I remember correctly from similar questions I asked a couple years ago, TDA is not a lossless editor.

I get a brief pause with any edit, not just adding two files together. Other users have indicated it's because I'm using DVD vob files rather than mpeg2. Even tho DVD files are considered an acceptable format on TDA, they might be glitch-free when adding chapter/menus (which I have no errors from), not for editing and file-joining. I've been told in another post to convert to mpeg2 and edit with TMPG or TDA, which I figure everyone here will concur.
