  1. Hello im looking for a dvd and vhs combo unit that will allow me to play the dvd in one bay and record what its playing on the vhs tape in the other bay???Is there a unit like this?
I know can get a dvd player and a vcr and accomplish this but im looking for a more automated one touch type of operation.

  2. Most combo units can dub both ways but they do not allow dubbing copy protected material either direction.

Some of the combo units have hacked firmware to disable the copy protection. Try looking through the players in the DVD Players section and look through the user comments.

Also, you will run into the same problem with stand alone dvd/vhs units.

I have a combo VHS/DVD cinevision 1000 which will allow me to dub from the VHS deck onto my Panasonic e80H DVR's hard drive, then edit out stuff like trailers and previews, "ONLY" if it's a Tape thats not copyright protected. Some of the older VHS tapes I bought long ago, didn't have the Macrovision on it, and I was able to transfer the movies to DVD... Two other options. Get a TBC unit to clear/clean up the Macrovision signal in your transfer between your VHS Player to your DVD recorder , or get a PVR that bypasses the signal and run it through it to your PC and work on it on your PC.
