okey here we go, i recrently recieved an xvid video from a friend and i am converterng it to dvd, this is where my problem comes in. ive tried multiple programs, (winAVI, and divxtodvd) and yet everytime i go to burn it, it always comes out in the pal version and my dvd player refuses to read it. the wierd thing is that ive tried it in multiple dvd players and it always seems to work perfectly in the no-named brand dvd payers that not to many people have, it always works correctly in my computer as well. i dont know what i am doing wrong, ive checked the settings on the conversion its all ntsc and everything yet it still burns wrong for everything and everytime i do it.. is there something i am doing wrong? do i need to get it out of xvid first and then convert it? this is very aggrivating, if anyone has a solution, thank you very much!

Sounds like your source is PAL and the apps in question don't do PAL-->NTSC. The cheap players can probably output NTSC from a PAL source.

VSO's DivxToDVD will permit you to force the PAL>NTSC conversion as it creates your DVD structure.

Try using avifrate to change the frame rate to an nstc value , something close to the pal 25fps , then recode to dvd again , it might just work .

I have tried this on a small flash file I converted from 12fps to 25fps avi using camstudio , then avifrate to an nstc value , and seems to work well .
