  1. Checking out the MCE Technologies site for DVD burner for the Cube I came across this.

    http://store.mcetech.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=CUBEDVDR8DL-A...roduct_Count=7

    Check out the IMPORTANT NOTE...

    $179 if you're replacing a CD-RW drive,

    but $229 if you're replace a CD-ROM drive...

    uhhh... WHY?

    Anyone got any ideas?

  2. No idea, but you might want to go with an ext drive

  3. I just looked on xlr8yourmac.com and out of 14 entries in their drive database for the cube all of them were ext firewire.

Also based on the instructions for replacing the drive in the cube on the apple site, it looks like an odd sized unit.

  4. Okay, I decided to call them.

I was able to squeeze out of them that difference was for brackets and cabling.

That's some expensive brackets and cabling.

I'm ready to just replace my cube. It's showing its age far too often these days.
