  1. I recently downloaded Cuttermaran and have figured out how to cut ranges of video, and I want to use that cut video to make a DVD. How do I do that using DVDShrink? Do I need to convert the Cuttermaran project file to something else? Thanks.

You can't make a DVD with DVD Shrink. It isn't an authoring program. Try TDA to start simple, GUI for DVD Author, DVD Lab Pro or DVD Workshop 2 to get more complex.

  4. I'm only trying to use DVDshrink as the burning program, because I'm familiar with it. How can I burn the "Cuttermaran project file" I've finished working on?

What has cuttermaran actually output ? Unless it is a DVD compliant structure you can only burn it as a data disk for PC use. CDBurnerXP Pro can do this for you.

If it is mpeg or mpv files then you need to author them (see my previous post).

If it is compliant, you can just open it in shrink as you would any ripped disk.

  6. When I click "Properties" on the file, all it says is "Cuttermaran Project File." Under "Opens With," it says "Cuttermaran - GUI."

I suspect that all the project file is a list of edits you marked out. You need to output your edits to some format. I haven't used cuttermaran, so I don't know if it outputs mpeg or VOB. If it is mpeg, author and burn. If it is VOB you will probably still have to create IFO files for it before burning.

  8. I was looking at the freeware DVD author programs...people seem to like DVDAuthorgui. But I had some questions about it. What is GUI? And are you able to actually see the video as you work on it? The screenshot doesn't show that feature. Thanks

GUI stands for 'graphic user interface". DVDauthor itself is a command line tool. The gui is a user friendly 'wrapper' around that command line tool so that it is easier to use.
