I just recorded a 1hr 10 min disc, and after finalization noticed in my magnavox dvd player the indexes are 15 sec apart.What is this all about??

No idea, but it's freaking annoying.
I took a copy of the VHS transfer of our wedding video and editted on the PC. I deleted 276 index markers (69 minute video), and added in 16 of my own. -
The dvd-video specification only allows 99 chapters ( I assume chapters are what are meant by indices ) per title. Did the disk that showed 15 second chapters on the Magnavox do that on the ES10 or only on the Magnavox?
