I've been searching and looking around for awhile trying to figure out how to do this before posting, but I keep running into dead ends. I have a bunch of windows media player files (WMV) and would like to put them to DVD. Now I know I can just burn them to DVD, but when I watch them on the screen, it's all choppy and a little out of synch. Is there a way to convert the WMV files to DVD-type files and then burn those so the DVD is crisp? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks

A program called super has experimental wmv conversion in it , so you could give it a test ...
Windows xp has movie maker which you import those files , but I would do one at a time as it has a habit of packing up under pressure .
Import first clip .
Drag and drop this clip onto either story board , or time line , which ever is displayed .
Goto File , Save movie .
In options screen , choose my computer , then next .
Now movie name and where it gose , then next .
In next screen , there is a blue "show more choices" option , hit it .
Choose other options , I then choose DV-AVI (pal) , being aus .
Let it rip .
Repeat steps for each video .
To convert to mpeg2
Use avi2mpeg2 to convert the avi to dvd mpeg2 with mp2 audio .
Then use batchdemux to extract video and audio , delete the audio file it produces , keep video stream .
Use vdub to extract the audio from avi as wav , use full processing , and check the frequency is set to 48khz , this is in under the audio tab , then save as wav .
Use besweet to convert this wav to ac3 , there is a hidden feature "create ac3 5.1" , look for it , and check it if you want this , other wise when you do the wav to ac3 it will produce a standard ac3 audio stream .
Now you can bring the video stream , and this ac3 audio stream into dvdauthorgui , and add menu's with buttons and basic nav , output files , playtest and burn .
For more info , check out the guides section , those I have done , these explain processes using vdub , and authoring dvds using the above mentioned applications , and also pcgedit , and more .

For frame rate conversions , I recommend ulead video studio 7 or 8 , any se edition can be bought in ebay for around $35.00au , its the only tool that dose it correctly , and saves you mucking about with guides that dont produce the results they say they can do , they cannot .

Hopefully this info and the guides will help you on your way to producing some classy dvd projects ... good luck , and dont forget ...
Pm me if you get stuck .
Ps : if any file has audio sync issues , these should be authored as seperate titles in dvdauthorgui , this will prevent them from affecting the rest ...
Currently working on a better method of fixing this major problem .
