Hi,
I think Ive downloaded a million different DVD rip/copy/encode etc programs over the last month, looking for one that has the following settings built in:
1. Can crop top and bottom (eg DivX codec has this)
2. Can move the subtitles further up the screen so they dont dissapear below the screen after cropping. IMToo DVD RIpper has this setting, its referred to as "Subtitle Offset"
In fact, IMToo DVD Ripper has both of the above settings, BUT I find its incredibly unstable during ripping. eg. when it swaps to the disc to read more data, the ripping speed slows way down (to single figure fps) and so i get bad freezing in the output video. I havent had this problem with any other software, so it cant be a problem with hardware.
Does anyone know an alternative ripper/encoder software that has these features ?
Or does anyone know how i might try and fix this problem with the IMToo program? (I tried increasing the ram buffering setting to 200mb, but it still slows down, just not as frequently).
Grateful for any help on this, thanks.

Try using DVDdecryptor to copy an image file to the hard drive, then use the other tool on the disk image.

thanks but i ve just managed to fix the problem. Actually, thanks to this forum i found that IMTOO is just a direct copy of the free DVDx software. I used that program and chnaged the Save Your DVD Drive setting to 1MB RAM instead of the default setting of 10MB RAM. After that the result was perfect. DVD drive, video codec speed and CPU speed all running at constantly and resulting in perfect output with no freezes when played on the phone. Even at top settings like Insane quality (DivX), 3000kbs and 192kbs mp3.
I wrote to IMTOO asking them why they have a default of 10mb which starts and stops your drive instead of saving it and giving you constant ripping speed. I wasted days on it.
Anyway, thanks to the info on this forum it works perfectly now! Cheers all.
