I have a video that I've been meaning to cut a part out of, and re-encode. Its a DivX .avi, and I've been having a horrible time doing this. I can't find any software that will directly cut parts out of a DivX video and save them, so I've been trying to convert the entire video to something Quicktime or iMovie will like, and then cropping from there. However, converting the video to both MPEG2 and .MP4 seem to create files Quicktime doesn't like. Does anybody have any ideas as to what I can do?

Another option is the DivX codec with QTAmateur -> Copy the part you want, paste into new movie, save as self-contained.

Thanks guys! I used Explicit, and it worked great. I'm unable to find a split tool in ffmpegx, but its sorta irrelevant now. Thanks again.
