If you compress too much you may get macro blocks.
Also have you tried different blanks????Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
i've tried different blanks, and it does seem that the really cheap ones are worse. i just copied madagascar and left out menus and such, leaving only main movie. it showed 100% on quality, but still messed up once toward the beginning. do you think that its still too large of a movie to compress?

Set your burn speed slower and see if it still screws up.
