Hey guys I need some help because nothing I've searched for on this site has been helpful.
I have captured to 672x448 - 29.97 fps in MPEG2 format with 4:3 aspect ratio. I would like to convert it to 624x352 and in the aspect ratio what typical encoders do nowadays which I believe is 16:9 so I can watch on my future widescreen TV.
I know my way around Virtualdub MPEG2 and a little of TMPEGEnc. I read a few items on AVISynth but I got even more confused.

If anybody could extend some support I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks guys.

  2. Resize filter in VirtualDub. If you have black bars top and bottom you'll need to crop too.

Divx/Xvid doesn't have an aspect ratio in the same way the DVD does. Jusr crop it, set the pixel aspect ratio to 1:1 and encode. 16:9 is an arbitrary ratio used by the television industry, but does not relate to film aspect ratios very well at all. This is why so many widescreen (or 16:9 enchanced) DVDs still have black bars. If you wan't all your's to conform universally to strict 16:9 you will have to crop the image in many cases to make it fit.
