I want to convert my XVID movies to H264. Is there a program that will do it with good quality?

    QuickTime Pro.

It's (very) bad to convert a lossy format (XviD) to another lossy format (H.264). With each lossy generation you'll be losing quality.

If you want H.264 movies then encode from the original source material.

  5. Toast 7 can do this with the free 3ivx QT component installed... and possibly without it with the DivX decoder that it comes with.

You'd do better going from XVID to MPEG4... since they're both MPEG4 variants and less intensive processing than AVC H.264.

Is there a reason you are converting from XviD to another lossy format?

You are spending time to lose quality.

Edit: After looking up what iSquint was -- now I get it -- you want to put a movie on your iPod. You could've just said that. It's not illegal, man!
