  1. Recently, when adding an .Avi file to a Nero compilation to be burned as SVCD, I recieve the error message "Server Busy"

The Error Message further states: "This action cannot be completed because the other program is busy. Choose 'Switch To' to activate the busy program and correct the problem."

At the bottom of this "Server Busy" error dialog box there are 3 options: "Switch To" and "Retry" and "Cancel"

The "Cancel" button is not highlighted to be used (shaded).
The "Retry" button attempts to re-load the file into the complilation but is unsucessful every time.
The "Switch To" button raises the Windows XP Start Button on the desktop to let you know that you're supposed to find the program that is making the server busy and stop it. However, no such program exists.

All of this information leads me to the question: What does a server's connection availability have to do with adding files to a Nero 7.0 compilation.

A little bit more info just in case:
    ---- I'm running Windows XP Pro SP1
---- 2 weeks ago i was able to burn anything without a problem
---- I own Nero 7.0 now, last week I had Nero 5.5 and the same problem occured. So, I upgraded Nero only to be in the same situation.

Thank You in advance and I apologize if this topic was posted in the wrong Forum Section. But we all make mistakes and so please don't tell on me if i post this in the wrong forum. I'm really not tryin to be grounded this weekend since it's halloween and everything. So, if you could please not yell at me for posting wrong. I mean, we're all adults here. It's not like we go around punching are best friend/roomates in the chin. That's just uncalled for. Please disregard the above paragraph if you don't have a sense of humor. I don't... and look what happens... I end up gambling with the legitimacy of this topic which desparately needs a solution. Or Else. sniff

Oh guess it just the internet Ultra version that I'm waiting on.

edit: Boxed instores, online on the 2nd of November. Wonder what the wait is for?

But I've dragged us off topic.

Could it be talking about the a frame server or something? I've never used Nero for conversion before but if your dragging an AVI to make a SVCD obviously its going to try and convert it.

    Anyone?

If you still have the old Nero version installed, uninstall it. In fact, I'd uninstall both versions of nero and then install the latest one again.

Its got to be talking about frameserving. For some reason, some other file must be using your avi. Try hitting control, alt, delete and looking at the processes tab. Close any media players or anything else that would accept an avi input.

    Weird problem...

  9. In other softwares the problem is associated with Norton anti-virus specifically script blocking part of it. You need to disable script blocking and when prompted say "Yes" to allow the script. Could be access violation too.

  10. Thanks everybody. I tried Adam's suggestion before I even read his post and it turns out that he hit the nero on the head (excuse that cheesy play on words)

Anyways, i uninstalled everything (Nero 5.5 and Nero 7) then reinstalled Nero 7 and it still presents the "busy server" error. However, when I choose to retry it processes.

Unfortunately now, the next step (convert/encode) before the burning process, the encoding process stops at about the same point every attempt and presents another error message about an encoding problem.

I just attempted to re-create the error message. I will post the details (Error Log File) below:
