Pinnacle DVD Authoring Help

I'm at the end of my rope here. I am using pinnacle 9.++ yes i updated to the latest version. here's the deal. making home dvd (kids soccer)

i have done this for the past 5 years (each year gets a little more "artistic" due to the program improvements). well here i am. i have made my 9 segments (simply put its either video or stills or both to music) pretty simple really. then i put them in the final cut. add a menu and thats my dvd with 9 chapters.

get this for some reason even though i made each "segment" exactly the same way (settings and all) only thing different is music. (mp3s). some segments will not playback (the music plays fine but only the first 5 secs of video play then the video stops (making it look like a still) but themusic plays the full amount).

now for the wierd part. it does NOT do this for
1. each individual segment (playback in mediaplayer)
2. in the editing mode with all lined up (they ALL play fine)
3. in the "test DVD" mode where before you burn it you can play it in a preview window.

so i burn it do the HARDDRIVE for burning to disc later. it is this version that is the "final dvd cut" that certain ones simply wont play correctly .

1. i used the same setting for EVERY segment
2. ALL segments (including trouble ones) playback FINE by themselves (play in mediaplayer)
3. play FINE in edit mode
4. play fine in Preview mode.

what am i missing here? i could understand if settings were different for a clip or if say it was a WAV or WMV instead of all MP3 files. but the file type used is identical down to same settings in audio as well.

this is the 4th day and 2nd weekend wasted and delaying my project.
does anyone have any ideas?

Had similar trouble with 2 page menu 8 items per page. This only occurred in my Kiiro DVD player out of 3 I test on. I had a look at the menu navigation which was auto created in Liquid Edition and found ther were a couple of errors causing a skip over one item. Correcting this and reducing the burn rate from 8x to 6x on 8x disk. solved the problem.

i was writing it to the HD first which is where i discovered the playback problem.

i wrote the dvd last night using a different program (ulead) thus i suspect either menu creation or writing engine problem. since i used the exact same videos with no problem in ulead.

just frustrating since i write about 10 dvds a month (home stuff) and this was a new problem that popped up.. thought i could solve it but as of yet no dice.

i will have another project next week..
