Hope that's not too stupid a question. A friend of mine wants to compile a DVD data base and asked me to contribute. To make things easier I'm looking for some freeware tool that automatically lists things like running time, region code, layers, audio tracks (languages and format), PAL/NTSC, anamorphic or not, subtitle languages, number of chapters and such of the disc in my DVD drive.

I know that PowerDVD does just that, but I already have a software player I'm very satisfied with and hesitate to shell out money just for that one additional function if there already is some little tool that can do that just as well.

I've tried DVDInfo Pro but there it's loads of pure 'techie stuff' but not much of the 'film buff' stuff that's listed if you know what I mean.

Is there any software for that?

    THX in advance!

DVD Shrink tells you a lot of this, DVD Decrypter fills in the gaps. Nothing I know of scans a disk and gives you this information in an easy to use manner. In most cases it would be quicker just to read it off the back of the slip case.

IFOEdit pretty much tells you everything.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Thanks for your replies. Will check these out.

Re: slip case - well, data given on covers is incorrect more often than not it seems.

    Thanks again!
