  1. Can I Decompress a Compressed WMV File to make it usable in TMPGEnc? If so, what kind of software will I need to get to do so?

Your help on this topic is appreciated!

  3. if you make sure you have the most up to date MS Video Tools you should be able to convert it in TMPGEnc just fine.

You should also extract the audio out to wav first - do this with dbPowerAmp (link found in the tools section) and add their WMV/ASF addon pack - convert the full stream to wav and let TMPGEnc convert only WMV video and then WAV audio -- your probably getting stuck on the audio decompression.

And even though WMV is a TYPE of ASF there is no VirtualDub support - it's similar enough to fool VirtualDub into thinking it can handle it but once it get's passed the header/index file VirtualDub realizes it doen't know this new file format

  5. Krizz: ASF was supported with VirtualDub 1.3c but MS asked Avery to take it out of further releases. So WMV is similar to ASF but VirtualDub doesn't have suppport for it.
