I have tried to encode a clip using divx with multipass ("Multipass, Nth pass" in divx)/

However, when I try to save the file, I get

I try the same using xvid

    only to get
    STATSFILE NOT FOUND
    then

I searched around the web and found hints that this may be caused by ocing. Any truth in this?

Btw, all of these are done on an uncompressed avi file using virtualdub (latest). They all compress fine if enconding is done by Single Pass

    Please help!

    Thanks!

Pardon the statement of the obvious, but are you doing the multipass 1st pass option first ?

Also, these two articles might assist:

    http://www.divx-digest.com/articles/divx6_setup.html
    If in doubt, Google it.

ok, i just seleceted 1st pass in divx and saved it as an avi and i got a file with just audio and just a black screen for audio

same with xvid. it just makes a file with just audio and a black screen for video.

You gotta run a multipass 1st pass, then keeping the same filename, run a multipass nth pass.

I'm sure the guides tell you that
    If in doubt, Google it.
