I can log into a chat room but no one can see my posts and I only see posts of certain people.
I also have most if not all people in the chatters list with a red circle and minus symbol over their chat name.

Some rooms say "unable to load applet, you need new vesion of Microsoft VM."
I go to the link provided but can't find and actual thing to download.

Any ideas what's going on ?

    Thanks

microsoft no longer has the VIRTUAL MACHINE download. you have to download the JAVA SOFTWARE from the SUN MICROSYSTEMS website.

I have a copy of what I think is the last version of Virtual Machine, I need it for a specific progam I run unfortunately. Sun Java doesn't work with it correctly.

I can upload a copy if you want it, you will need to go directly to MS update if you install it as there is a security problem with it.

Personally I wouldn't install it, there's probably another alternative.... here's the link. Make sure yuo go right to the MS update page once you install it. It should detect that you have it installed and need the update.

    Thanks very much Coalman.
What is the problem with it , other than a secutiry patch, that causes you to recommend not installing it?
    Cheers

Well it's a old program, it may possibly cause a conflict with sun Java if you have it installed, it may also cause your browser to revert to it as the default Java program to use.

As I said I only have it installed because I have a older program that won't work using Sun Java, otherwise it wouldn't be installed on my machine. You should be able to get Yahoo to work without installing it. I'd explore that first.

Do you have a version of it installed already? I'd try uninstalling it, or go into default program list under install/unistall and see if Sun Java is set as the default java program.

I'm not sure where to find that.

I went into Program Access and Defaults and found under the Microsoft Windows tab "Virtual Machine for Java : Microsoft Virtual Machine"

I went into the custom tab but there wasn't an option for Sun Java.

  12. Open IE, go to Tools, select advanced tab. scroll Down to Sun Java and make sure it's checked.
