If it's from Sony it's probably got Arccos.

    What DVD is it ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

I did the U.S. region 1 dvd way back when it came out with just DVD Decrypter when a bunch of people were saying they couldn't

And DVDFab Decrypter has been updated a few times after that movie came out so i'm wondering if it's not another problem beside's "Arccos" if he has tried all those way's with no luck 8)

I thought that might have been some sort of reference to the media he'd been trying, what with your "cake boxes" (we call them spindles) and the like ...
    If in doubt, Google it.

Dvddecrypter works fine on the region 1 disc. Of course if the disc is already hosed....
Edit just noticed the region 2 reference, sorry.

You're right Jim, the Region 2 version is protected by Arccos. I can't remember if I backed it up with Fab DVD or Any DVD but it would have been with one of those. I doubt that there has been added protection since I bought it (couple of months ago - can't remember when it came out) but you should find that the latest version of either will work.

Correct, the Region 2 version of Layer Cake is one of the discs where Sony / Columbia added Sony Arccos, even though the Region 1 version was no problem at all.

Here is a link to a list of some of the "problematic" DVDs, and note the inclusion of this disc, and also the suggested solutions:
