Here's a good reason not to use CD sleeves to store your CDs and DVDs in:
This disk was sitting in my drawer for a couple of years. I pulled it out of the sleeve and the backing got stuck to the cellifain. It ripped a chunk off the silver backing witch made the CD un-readable.

dvd would have no effect lol
as to this, looks like wasnt in a cool dry place
maybe u think it was, but moister got in there however slight bit it was
that would be my best guess what happened -
Paper sleeves are still just paper. They ooze moisture and chemicals, regardless of storage conditions.
For an extreme look at this phenomena, consider the storage and constant care given to the Declaration and Constitution.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

It was stored in a cool dry place. No matter what, there's allways moisture in the air that can get into the sleeve.
I just thought it would be of interest to others, so I posted a picture. The data on it wasn't very important, so no great loss.I stand up next a mountain and chop it down with the ledge of my hand........ I'm a Voodoo child.... Jimi Hendrix, -
Tyvek is better. No moisture issues, no fibers that scratch, and indestructable. BUT - if you get ones with windows, the problem shown above can still happen - that was a cellophane issue, not a paper one.
Also, CDs only have a lacquer coating over the reflective backing. DVDs have a polycarbonate layer; I've never seen a DVD peel, but I've seen LOTS of CDs ruined this way.
