What can I use to compress a mpeg2 file in order to fit it on a 4.7 dvd? I have tried Cucusoft Mpeg to Dvd but it doesn't work. The file was captured from TV using an ATI All In Wonder Card. I have trimmed it as much as possible and it is currently at 4.35 gig, but Nero won't work. A friend gave me a program that will compress the files once they are in vob format, but what can I use to larger files into vob format so that I can compress the files. Step by step, if possible.

You can author the dvd FIRST and then use dvd shrink to shrink it to fit a dvdr (it will create it on the harddrive) THEN you can burn the dvd.

I agree with Yoda.
Author your Mpeg2 with something like TMPGEnc DVD Author (assuming your file is DVD compliant, if it isn't, I can tell you how to set up your "Personal Video Recorder" from your ATI All In Wonder software)
Once authored, you can reduce the file size with DVD Shrink then burn with Nero.
Good luck -
What else can I use to author the file to vob format other than TMPGEnc DVD Author? I keep getting an error message saying that install program for TMPGEnc DVD Author is not a valid win32 application.
