I have some low quality DivX files and from reading a guide or two I understand I would have to re-encode the DivX files to make them playable on a DVD-r disc. Due to the bad quality of the original files re-encoding isn't possible. I am thinking of just putting the DivX files on a DVD-R disc so that the person I send them to can upload them to their PC.

Is there any problems with me using a DVD-r disc as a data disc for DivX files?? I have only ever used these discs to burn DVDs and always thought of data discs as CD-r media for some reason?? Is there much difference between DVD-r and CD-r as data discs apart from the big difference in size?

Thanks guys. Yeah, I don't know if they have a DVD drive. They are from E-bay so I'll just send CR-r for now.
