    RATdvd

ratDVD takes a full featured DVD movie and puts it into a highly compressed video format file - while preserving all the features of the original DVD. You can directly play back the compressed file - with all the options the original DVD. You can also simply convert it back to the original DVD format without losing any features(but you will lose video quality).

Look up the guides for DVD to VCD. Convert your RATDVD back to real DVD, then from their to VCD, and marvel at how much the quality has dropped and just how rubbish it now looks.

Last night I tried to play the .raDVD file in the latest version of Windows Media Player, like it is claimed can be done, and it crashed. There was a error message loading codec.

    So much for that.

You could just buy the original or wait for it to come out officially.

It's a compressed file that can retain all features of a DVD such as menus, etc in one self-contained file that is able to be played by Windows Media Player.

Whatever you want. Most people would either watch it, convert it and/or burn it

You can burn it as data which gives you a .ratDVD file on a data disc, or if you mean as something playable in a settop DVD player, then you need to use ratDVD to convert it back to the original DVD folders, and then burn that as per normal.

See above to convert it back to a VIDEO_TS folder. Then use the usual tools. Most likely there's still guides in the guide ssection for this also.
    If in doubt, Google it.
