K, well I have this DivX video file.
I converted it to Xvid with virtualdubmod and added subtitles with the TextSub filter. I was using a Avisynth script along with this. So, bassically I used a Avisynth script to change the frame rate and use some denoising and colour correcting filters, while converting to Xvid and adding subtitles with VirtualDubMod (Which I of course opened the .avs file in).
I'm pretty sure the whole converting to Xvid while doing this is probably the problem. So, my questions are, is this why there is a small amount of macroblocking around the subs and other places and can someone tell me a better method of achieving what I have been aiming for.
- Thanks.

Use a higher bitrate. Or forget bitrates and use Xvid in single pass Quantization mode with a Q value of 2 to 3.

Subtitles are hard to compress, that is one of the reasons why seperate streams are prefered. As said upping the bitrate should help.
