ok ill use mainconcept mpeg copnverter to make a dvd file,

which i then take and put into TMPGEnc DVD Author, which makes a video and audio folder, that i then use to burn to dvd

ok now when i go to put the dvd in my pc power dvd loads up and plays the movie,

but if i put it into my dvd player, it'll just stay at the load screen,

now my question is... is it still a good copy, just my dvd player isnt compatible? or is there probably something else?

    thanks for the help

Unless you created a non-standard menu format in TDA, it should play in a settop player. Try it in a different player, then you would know.

Software DVD players aren't always a good indicator as they may be able to play a disc that no settop player could handle. You might also check that the MPEG and audio on the burned disc is within DVD specs.

And can we assume your stand-alone set-top player actually plays the type of media you are using (DVD-R vs DVD+R) ?

Most compatibility issues arise from these types of media <-> set-top player mismatches. Make sure your media is compatible for playback in your set-top.

Make sure that is indeed the problem before taking my word for it - check the set-top's documentation for media it's compatible with, or look here on the DVD Players Lists section for your specific model and see what others have posted about media compatibility.

I hope it is something that simple, but you never know.

    Best wishes and good luck!
