has anyone here heard of a remote control (school) locker opener? im in a buisness class here in high school and we think that selling the remote control locker opener would be a great idea. exept we have no idea where to find a manufacturer that would do this kind of work. I was thinking of a small remote control that would use a certain frequency to pop open a locker that has a combination stlye thing on it now.

Just make sure you dont loose or break the remote also your if your batteries go out in your lock you have to replacce them

They have newer ones that use keys too if anything goes wrong

those sound good, but what prevents one key/remote from opening a lock that isnt yours?

It shouldn't be too hard to design and make as long as there are exposed mechanics inside of the locker, that when moved open it. I am thinking along the lines of vertical control rods conected to the bolt or latches, or a shaft from an outside turn knob or lever that extends or could be extended into the locker space.

Simply determine what movement is needed and apply it. I dont think the mechanics are the problem, but rather the power source. Trans mitters and receivers should be easy to find off the shelf or with little modification.

Shoot for a design about or smaller than a pack of cigaretts that uses no or very few invasive fasteners. (Wedge or clamp on devises that do no damage to property are more likly to be adopted or allowed by institutions is my guess)

This reminds of the joke about the blond that couldn't get into her car because the battery in her keyring remote died

they would probably have different codes just like car remotes . It's a good idea but as mentioned having a failsafe would need to be an option

Just talking out of my Err ah the top of my head. I would guess that some of the electronic keys have way more possible combonations than a cheap locker dial lock. The downside would be that a clever enough person could quickly transmit these combos until the locker that he wanted opened.
