Is anyone experienced with getting a Sony camcorder out of VTR mode?
Apparently that is why my computer cannot recognize it through the 1394 port.
I have been able to transfer video to my computer using the 1394 port for some time with no problem. Suddenly, the computer will not recognize the camcorder. I have tried switching to other computers and switching the 1394 cord with no luck. Other 1394 devices will work in my computer with no problem. The camera is fully functional otherwise. It says “DV IN” on the screen.
It seems that it will not come out of VTR mode even when you play a tape. I have reset the camcorder with a ballpoint pen but that did not solve the problem.
I have gone to the ETC menu to ensure that the control is through i.Link. The ETC menu item under CONTROL when selecting i.LINK going to ADJ TEST says NOT READY CHECK "i.LINK & REC STATUS"
This seems to be a recurring issue on Sony camcorders as I have found the issue on several message boards and forums yet I have not seen a solution. One example can be found at:
