    direct tv is now providing xm radio with its package. does anyone know what the quality is (will be)??

  2. I wasn't impressed with the XM I have heard in the past. I could hear all kinds of (mp3-style) compression artifacts. But for all I know, DirecTV's will sound different.

    highly compressed (not HiFi) but widely available

    compression was optimized for more channels over quality.

    I have the dish network which offers sirius radio. So if there is a similiarity here, it is broadcast as mp2 sound at 192k. A direct rip from the dvr harddrive is how I found out.
