    I need a converter that will convert .mov and .wmv to either .avi, mpg or dvd format. Have digital camera vid (mov) of my twins birth that I really would like to burn to dvd, but pinnacle studio doesn't support mov or wmv. I'm really not looking to pay for anything at the moment, since I'll only be using it once or twice, so either shareware or trial (WITHOUT annoying nag screen embedded into the picture) would be really nice. thanx!

    mencoder can convert mov and wmv files to avi or MPEG2/AC3. Completely free without nag screens. It is cli, but there are GUI's if you need one.

    For VDub you would need to frameserve via AVISynth:
    directshowsource("whatever.wmv/mov"),fps=fps)
