  1. hi,

    i am playing a dvd from my laptop using powerdvd 6. the image is partly shown, the rest of it is cover by some green bars and can't be seen. the audio is bit sluggish too.

    this is my laptop, PIII 1.2G, 512MB RAM, Intel 830 MG video card (32MB)

    tried play the same dvd on friend computer and it plays fine.

    is my laptop not good enough or am i missing something else ?

    Your MPEG-2 codec may be corrupted. Does it play using VLC media player? VLC uses it's own codecs. Freeware also.

    Do other type video files play alright? Your laptop should be fast enough. What's your operating system?

  3. VLC (0.8.1) can't play it at all. but i have been using VLC for a while now and it's fine for other video files.

    this is win XP Home.

    I would expect it is your hardware. A 1.2 GHZ laptop is not as quick as a desktop 1.2GHZ. And on top of that you are running XP. You are at the bottom of the spec sheet for XP plus attempting to do mpeg2 decoding.
