  1. OK. All was well with audio/video sync with a direct cable connection to my Hauppauge 350. Then, my cable company moved to digital cable, and in order to watch the movie channels I had to get a digital cable box. The box has composite connections to the Hauppauge. Watching Live TV on the Win2000 player all is well for the first minute or two. And then, the audio mysteriously starts to get out of sync with the picture. This is live TV, not during capturing video. It is clearly related to using the digital cable box tuner in lieu of the Hauppauge tuner. I also noticed the same problem when running the picture through a VCR. Again, the problem dissappears if I just use the Hauppauge tuner, but then I will not be able to obtain all my cable channels as many require the digital cable box. Any ideas on a fix?

    Re: Audio Sync Issue

You are probably seeing the tip of an iceberg. Try this:

  4. REad over the link In my case the only problem is audio sync, not picture freezing or quality. It seems that without any observable warning the audio just goes out of sync. Again, this does not happen if the cable is run directly into the tvtuner card. But when the signal is run through the cable box tuner, with composite connections into the tv tuner card the audio sync starts up. I should add that I also have the composite cables running through a TBC.

Personally I line the cable signal via composite (through a vcr) directly into the ATI Input adapter that comes with All in Wonder videocards. The adapter connects to the A/V In jack on the card, providing composite and S-video input to the PC. You really don't need to run cable through a TBC, and many on this site would tell you to separate your vcr-to-TBC-to-PC from any cable input, as this can introduce interferance into the setup, or cause synchronization issues. Try routing the cable signal separately via a composite/S-video "hub", which you can find at radioshack for about 49.00. The hub allows input connection with 2, 4, 8, etc. separate devices, and some hubs have coax jacks as well. There was an article somewhere in this site about it...

  6. Thanks a lot! I will take the TBC out of the "loop" and see what happens.
