Hello, I've been looking around, and it seems nobody has encoutered this problem. But I apologize if I missed a post. I've been trying to convert an avi (XVID) file to DVD using AVI2DVD, and following this guide from afterdawn.
When I finished going through all the steps, I hit "start", and in a matter of seconds got the following messages (in this order):
1) "cannot find output file"
2) AVIDemux GUI incurred in an error (or something along these lines, the message only appeared for a split second)
then, my computer simply shut down.
I know I have the proper codecs because both GSpot and AVICodec have told me so.
I suspect the files don't have issues, because I can play them well, and GSPot can render them with no problem.
I know the subtitle files (3 of them) are ok, because they were sub files that SubRip converted with no problems
Just to make sure there wasn't an enconding problem, I installed the three free enconding progarms that AVI2DVD uses (although I imagine they must be included in the software somehow). I then chose one of them (Henc) as the enconder, as per the guide.
I'm not sure what computer specs you need to have to try to figure out what the issue could have been, so just in case:
CPU: Intel Pentium IIE - 1005 MHz (7.5 x 134)
Motherboard: Asus CUSL 2 (6PCI, 1 AGP Pro, 2 CNR, 3 DIMM, VIdeo)
Chipset: Intel SOlano i815E
RAM: 512 MB SDRAM
Bios Type: Award Medallion (09/20/02)
Video Adapter: Intel(r) 82815 Graphics Controller (4 MB)
3D Accelerator: Intel i752
Monitor: LG 566LM [15" LCD] (305JE07651)
Audio Adapter: Intel 82801BA(M) ICH2 - AC'97 Audio Controller [b-1]
HDD's: Maxtor 6Y080L0 (80 GB, 7200 RPM, Ultra.ATA/133); Maxtor 6Y120P0 (120 GB, 7200 RPM, Ultra-ATA/133. The HDD I'm working with has 49GB of free space.
DVD Recorder: Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-107D (DVD+RW:8x/4x, DVD-RW:8x/4x, DVD-ROM:12x, CD:24x/24x/40x DVD+RW/DVD-RW)
Suggestions? Ideas?
[EDIT] changed the title: as I keep on testing, and trying with different encoders, it is quite obvious the problem is with AVIDemuxGUI, because it as this point that the application stops working each and every time. I tried installing AVIDemuxGUI in case the issue was that AVI2DVD couldn't find it, but that hasn't solved the problem. All help appreciated!
