Use gspot to check your source file information. You could post the result here, and others may be able to help you with that information.

You might try updating your divx codec, or, better yet, dump divx and install the latest xvid build. Also, try updating your direct show filter. I had the same problem with some avi files in tmpgenc, and one of these two things solved the problem. Can't tell you which because i foolishly did both before checking to see if the problem was solved.

first, if you haven't already, uninstall divx. then, follow these links - https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=ffdshow and https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=XviD_Codec to get what you need. This xvid build will play divx files, as well, without the spyware.

    Here's two totally separate fixes:
First, in tmgenc, go to option>environmental settings>VFAPI plug in and see what priority number directshow is at (default is -2 I think). Right click on directshow and select higher priority. Then click ok and check to see if your video works. If not try doing it again (from -1 to 0) and keep repeating this process till it gets to the top of the list. If your video still doesn't play, try the second option.

Second option is to download an upgrade of directx itself. Here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx

In the past I've had the same problem and to this day, have to change the priority settings between each new avi I open. Also try putting "AVI VFW compatibility reader" on the top of the list, and "AVI2(Open DML) File reader" at the top of the list. Maybe one of those will fetch the picture.
