  1. I am unsure where this should go so sorry if it's in the wrong forum.

I have tried to download home movies from my digital video camera but the results are rubbish. I have a couple of programes I've tried such as Win dvd. Cucusoft and Dvd santa, but each time the result is pixalation to the extent of unwatchable and sound problems. When I plug directly into the tv or my pc the picture is perfect but when trying to burn to disk the problems are there.

Can anyone advise me on software for this.

    Many thanks.

I don't own a digital camcorder but maybe I can help a little.

How do you transfer the video to your computer? Do you use firewire/usb? Or do you capture it through a capture card? Either way should produce good results. Or does your video camera record to a minidvd?

A few more details on your camera model and methods used will help us help you.

Assuming your converting to dvd make sure your converting to mpeg2 at one of the acceptable dvd resolutions (352x480, 704x480, 720x480 for ntsc).

After you give us a little more detail I'm sure others will be able to offer some more advice.

You do not want to use USB cable for that.
Buy firewire card with firewire cable (costs few bucks) and install it in your PC.
See in your camera user manual, how to connect your camera to PC, using the firewire cable.
After that you will be able to transfer video from your camera to PC without any troubles and any loss in quality.
Other option is, as MJA said, to use a standalone DVD recorder which is the simplest and the best.
