  1. i've got a trial version of TSUNAMI DVD Author Pro which allows you to import DVD-RAM files. But my programs were recorded on a JVC DRM150 and have apparently been recorded at 480x576 which is not a PAL supported format and so it won't let me carry on.

What do I do to get round this as painlessly as possible?

    Thanks
    Phil

Not certain if I understand totally, but what are you importing it from??? is it networked (the Program you speak of, or your Set Top Recorder; the JVC..)..
Do you have the capability to to stick a DVD-Ram disc into your PC DVD/CD Rom-Recorder and have it read correctly... Alot of PC DVD Burners/Players aren't DVD-Ram Capable, only a few, Like some LG Models.. Ok.. Now That I got that question for my own curiosity out of the way...Rename the VRO or VOR file from your DVD-Ram source to MPEG, and re-author to Pal Standards.. Works for me, I use a Panasonic DMR E80H to record onto a DVD-RAM Disc, then transfer the source into my PC via my LG Burner, and rename the main Movie File to MPEG...Then it's on to the time consuming process of re-authoring it to the standard which I want it to be..

    PARANOID??!?! WHO'S PARANOID ?!?!

Although 480X576 is not a standard DVD frame size, many DVD player which supports SVCD is able to play MPEG2 files on DVD with this frame size. I do it quite often when I want to put more than 2 hours of video on a DVD.

In order to put 480X576 video on a DVD, you need to fool most DVD authoring tools into believing that the video has a 720x576 frame size. Otherwise they won't let you continue. The tool I used is DVD Patcher which is a freeware. I haven't seen a guide for exactly the situation described here. However, I hope you will find the following guides useful.

Note that since the audio sampling rate of the video recorded by JVC is already in 48KHz, no conversion is necessary.

  4. thanks I'll take a look at these links.

Yes I have a drive that reads RAM (LG GSA4040B). I thought I was re-authoring by using TSUANMI MPEG DVD AUTHOR PRO but it moans about the initial format.
