There is no such thing as "DVD quality" unless you're making a DVD from high quality sources.

DIVX is super-compressed and usually mediocre quality at best.

first you need to switch tools. use Autogk instead it produces much better results. I'm a former drdivx user and since i switched i havent used it again.

like lordsmurf said you wont get dvd quality out of it, but its very watchable i usually put 4 movies on advd and watch it on my standalone player and i can tell there will be times where you cant see the difference(almost) but you wont get dvd quality.

dont try to compress dvds that have a duration of 2 hours to fit on a cd, you will definitely loose quality.

for each minute of the source movie give ten megs, i mean if a movie is 90 minutes long your avi should at least have 900megs in size

    this is only my opinion

    good luck

I absolutely agree. There is really no way you will get so called DVD quality. Many tools claim ( lie ) that they will allow you to backup a DVD to a CD. It's like trying to squeeze a bull elephant into a VW. Yoou have to get rid of part of the poor elephant to make it fit. Sure, it will be recogniizable but really not the same animal.

As was said, you can get watchable backups and you can stuff 3-4 movies into a DVD/r but at a costin quality. There no way I will put up with a less than the original quality. So if I cannot backup the entire movie without any compression, I'll use DL. There are some movies that are so darn good to begin with as far as digital clarity that even moderate compression will not mar them too much. There others that even the original looks over compressed. There is no firm rule as to how they will react to compressing. It all has to do with the original source.

    TIP:

if your movie is 90minutes long, select AT LEAST a final size of 900 mg and cut the credits of the movie with dvdshrink for example but still having a final size of 900 mg
