  1. Here's the situation.. My friend just went to Vienna and she brought her US laptop with her.. She wants to watch region 1 dvds on it which she can do fine.. What she would like to do is watch them on a TV using the laptop as a player... If she gets a device like avermedia to connect the PC to the TV will it display correctly on a PAL tv?

Looking at http://www.avermedia.com, it looks like even their lowliest PC-to-TV converter will switch between NTSC and PAL, so you're good to go...

    AVERKey Lite http://www.avermedia.com/cgi-bin/products_computertv_averkeylite.asp?show=6.

If you DL the manual, it has a page specifically devoted to showing how to switch from between NTSC (N) and PAL (P).
