  1. I have a DVD of some home movies from a friend of mine. The video is almost 2 hours long plus has a menu etc. I am trying to make another copy for him but can not figure out what format the video is in. It will not play on a set top player at all but will play on a computer DVD. It tried to create a backup with DVD decrypter and it does not even recognize the disc at all. I also tried using DVD shrink and no luck. How can I find out what format it is in so I can convert it to usable MPEG2 to reauthor it for him.
I can tell what ever format it is in, the quality is not very good plus you can see how much of the DVD was used when it was burned and around only half of it was used for almost two hours of footage, so it has been compressed for sure.
How can I tell what format it is and convert it to MPEG2. I understand the quality will still be bad, but the goal is being able to play it on a set top player, not just on a computer.
    Thanks for any help.

Just copy the disc to an empty folder on your pc, then burn the files onto another disc or use any burning software and make a disc image and burn. There is no reason to use decryptor or dvd shrink.
