Hey, I was told when setting up a wireless network that it is recommended that you wire the router directly to the computer. My computer doesn't have a place to plug in that specific wire type. I have something similar to this plugged in my computer.
I was wondering what the advantages of setting it up with a wire directly would be, would it be more stable?
Thanks for reading this

Stability depends on the wireless connection. Your speed will be twice as fast if your wired NIC supports 100Mbps or up to 20 times as fast if it supports 1000Mbps. If the router is close by, I'd recommend hard wiring the close by machine while all others in the network are wireless. Typically, the computer nearest the router is the main computer in a household and will benefit from the increase in speed. NIC 10/100/1000 cards can be purchased for under $20. I just purchased threeTrendnet 10/100/1000 wired NICs for under a penny. Actually, when I get the rebates back I'm actually being given a penny for each one purchased (12.99 - 13.00 rebate).
You can remove the wireless card and replace it with a PCI wired NIC with no loss to expansion slots. -
Alright thanks for the info. One of my main concerns is that my media will get corrupted if I have done the networking incorrectly. As long as it transfers should it be ok?

Yes. The transfers will be fine using either wired or wireless or even a combo of the two in your network. It is typical that the first computer nearest the wireless router is hardwired for the express purpose of speed.
