  1. I recently went skydiving and I got a dvd done of the jump. I am a computer science student and I was looking to put this video onto one of my websites. I have the code embedded into the site that I am going to put this video on but I need to convert and combine it, I think.

I have been reading this site for about a week on and off. I downloaded the program X video convertor, but it was not working on the entire video. i would only give me one frame, which lasted about 1min 30 sec...
The original format of the video is a VBO file, but there are IFO and BUP files as well. I know that the BUP file is a backup file but I am not sure what role the IFO file plays...

Many of the things that people seem to do on this site is to convert full movies. I am not looking to do that, infact I am really not trying to spend $50 on a program that I am only going to use once...

I was attempting to convert the VBO files to MPEG2 files. Like I said before I got only one chapter that actually works though.

so basically this is the question/problem...
what can I do to convert my skydiving video which contains 6 VBO files to one file that can be condensed in size, a little, and used in Windows media player?

    can I get some help?

Use TDA. Add DVD Video, Select your Video_TS folder, Select the title you want, check Copy clip to HDD and select the folder you want it copied to. That should give you the full mpg2 file.

how can I compress it to a file which is much smaller? say at or under 100mb?

If it's going to optimized for web download, I'd consider using WMV, as it tends to offer the best compromise between file size and file quality IMO.

Open the VOB file in virtualdubmod, then save out to DV-AVI - the Panansonic DV Codec will assist here. Then open this AVI in Windows Movie Maker and save out to "My Computer", and use the "High Quality Video (Large)" template.
    If in doubt, Google it.
