    i have never had a problem watching avis,but i can't watch my latest movie,avi codec says it is unsupported but i have all the codecs,maybe thet are out of date??
    i have searched the forums but do not know what to do
    please help??

    So you installed XviD then? Should still work even if it is old, just might get artifcats, etc.
    ffdshow is another option, or as suggested VLC which has libavcodec built in for XviD decoding.
