    Hello out there,

can anyone perhaps explain this to me:

I burn with Platinum DVD+R (by listing it's RICOH-made) on Plextor PX-716A (Nero 6.xx), I have been using the media and burner for almost 8 months. Sometimes I use TDK DVD+RW to test the backup - standalone handles both media just fine.
Most of the time it's fine but every now and then I get a DVD-backup, which plays correctly on PC (files, not yet burned) with both PowerDVD and WinDVD - AND also the burned DVD plays fine on my PC, but my standalone (Panasonic DVD S47) stops playing the disc after I press the "Play movie"-button or the "Scene selection"-button, just switches into "stop"-mode.

Backup: DVD Decrypter, VOBBlanker, Nero Recode 2/DVD Shrink

Any suggestions on what I may be doing wrong?

The problem could be as simple as a dusty laser in the player. Buy a laser cleaning disc (a disc with brushes attached to remove the dust), it may be that simple ..and\or.. make sure you have the latest firmware in that devise.

Thanks, but the player works well with the different discs, just now and again certain backup-projects show this strange "behaviour". Got the player for just over a year now...

I presume that in the process of backing-up I encounter some hitch...
I wonder - I removed the "spanish"-menues from the back-up with VOBBlanker, in addition to the warnings, so I will have another go keeping the menues and report on results.

Well, here the 'news', perhaps not news really for some of you:
I kept the "spanish"-menue, now my player accepts the disc without any problem.

So I have to turn to the guides again about updating .ifo's after removing a menue... I had hoped for VOBBlanker being able to do the trick "automatically", but there is no tool that would do this, is there??

I tried DVDRemake Pro, but removing parts or menues from DVD never yet produced a working disc for me.
If anybody has got an idea/link to a special guide... help would be appreciated.

  5. You may be doing everything right in DvdReMake. Depends on where did you get your copy. Take a look for more detailed explanation: http://www.cdr-zone.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1393
